Brett Ratner remembers Michael Jackson as a true inspiration

“Michael was not only a great friend, but a true inspiration in my life. I will never forget his kindness to me, and his beautiful heart. He was the best father and truly loved his children. I will miss him.”

and

“I know that people looked at Michael and thought he was strange, but to me, he was fascinating. He was the most inspirational person in my life. His one dream was to cure all the sick children in the world. And when I’d say, ‘Isn’t that impossible?’ Michael would just start to cry. He was very emotional about things that moved him. I guess you’d have to say he was a pure innocent in a world that wasn’t so innocent anymore.”

Brett Ratner – Director/ Producer –
Best known for his films such as The Family Man, After the Sunset, Red Dragon, the Rush Hour series, and X-Men: The Last Stand and directing numerous music videos.

  1. Thank you, Brett Ratner, for posting such a loving tribute to your friend and our angel, Michael. We always knew he felt things deeply, and his sensitivity is why we loved him so, and ironically why others held him up to ridicule. But I assure you, Michael will rise the victor, and his legacy will be far reaching and eternal. If Michael loved you as a friend, then I love you, too – because more than anything, Michael needed honest companions who sought nothing from him but genuine friendship. Real buddies like that are hard to find in the every day world most people live in, let alone the entertainment industry (I’ve been there). So I am happy to know Michael had a friend like you to share fun times with. Your video of Michael singing in the car is priceless! I loved seeing him with no makeup or stage outfits, because that’s the real Michael I have always loved…the way he really was. He was a man to be treasured in life, and I will cherish his memory forever. Oh, but I am so heartbroken.

  2. Thank you, Brett Ratner, for such a lovely tribute to your good friend and our angel, Michael. We always knew he felt things very deeply, which is why we loved him, and partly why others held him up to ridicule. Michael did so much to help relieve suffering around the world, wanting nothing but to see a happy child as his only reward. How lucky you were to have known him! And your Shooter Series was wonderful – Michael was so mellow talking about his early years, his favorite music influences, and his intense emotional connection to his art. You showed us the real Michael, with no makeup or stage costumes, and that is the Michael I will always love. He will rise the victor, and his legacy will be unmatched, far reaching and eternal. I’m glad he had you as a good buddy to share fun times with. His memory will be cherished forever.

  3. That is truly so real,if only our generation could pass it on…
